Stanley Tate Verified attorney

I founded Tate Esq. in 2018 after watching too many borrowers get stuck in loans they couldn't afford to pay and couldn't qualify to discharge. Today my practice is almost entirely federal and private student loans — default resolution, income-driven repayment optimization, PSLF appeals, and adversary proceedings for undue hardship discharge.

I've been quoted on student loan policy in The New York Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, Bankrate, NerdWallet, CNBC, and MarketWatch, and I teach continuing-education sessions to other attorneys through PLI, ABA TECHSHOW, and the DC Bar. My firm represents borrowers in every state through remote appointments.

Most borrowers can't afford a mistake with their student loans. The system is complicated enough that making one is almost guaranteed without help. I built this practice to give people that help without making them gamble on the outcome — flat fees disclosed up front, no hourly meter, no surprises.
