Our commitment

In plain English

Accessibility is a bug to fix, not a nice-to-have.

Tate Esq, LLC is committed to making tateesq.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone — regardless of ability — should be able to find clear, accurate information about student loan options and how to get help.

We design and maintain our Website with accessibility in mind. Our goals are to:

  • Provide content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for users with a range of abilities
  • Test the Website using assistive technology and the perspectives of users with disabilities
  • Train our team on accessible content and design practices
  • Treat accessibility issues as bugs to be fixed, not as nice-to-haves

We treat accessibility as an ongoing effort. As we publish new content and update the site, we work to maintain — and where possible improve — the standards described below.

Conformance status

In plain English

Targeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA, working toward 2.2 AA. Partially conformant today.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Tate Esq, LLC aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most often referenced by U.S. and international accessibility laws.

We are also working toward conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our content management system, theme, and embedded tools support its newer success criteria.

The Website is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA — most content meets the standard, with the exceptions noted in the Known Limitations section below.

Compatibility

The Website is designed to be compatible with current and recent versions of major browsers and assistive technologies, including:

  • Browsers: Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge
  • Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
  • Operating systems: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and major Linux distributions
  • Input methods: keyboard, mouse, touch, and voice control

The Website relies on HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript. These technologies are supported by current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies.

The Website may not work correctly with browsers or assistive technologies that are more than two major versions out of date.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, you may encounter the following limitations on the Website. If you do, please let us know — we will work to address them.

  • Older articles and resources. Some content was published before our current accessibility standards were in place. We are reviewing and updating older content as part of an ongoing audit. If you need an accessible version of a specific article or resource, contact us and we will provide one promptly.
  • Embedded video. Most of our videos are hosted on third-party platforms (such as YouTube). We provide captions on all videos we publish. Auto-generated transcripts may contain errors; if you need a corrected transcript, contact us.
  • PDF and other downloadable documents. Some downloadable documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to remediate these and to publish all new documents in accessible formats. We will provide an accessible alternative on request.
  • Third-party tools. Forms, scheduling tools, and similar features may be provided by third parties whose accessibility we do not directly control. We choose vendors with strong accessibility practices and will help you complete any task by alternative means if you encounter a barrier.

How we test

We assess the accessibility of the Website using a combination of:

  • Automated testing using accessibility testing tools
  • Manual testing by team members with assistive technology
  • Color and contrast checks during design and content review
  • Keyboard-only testing of interactive components
  • Periodic external review

Feedback and accommodation requests

In plain English

Email, call, or write. We respond within two business days.

If you encounter a barrier on the Website, need information in an alternative format, or want to request an accommodation in connection with a consultation or representation, please reach out. We will respond promptly and work to provide what you need.

Email: support@tateesq.com Phone: 314-884-1886 (voicemail; please leave a message and we will return your call) Mail: Tate Esq, LLC, 222 S Meramec Ave, Suite 202-1096, St. Louis, MO 63105

When you contact us, please include:

  • A description of the barrier you encountered
  • The page or feature involved (a URL is helpful)
  • The browser, operating system, and assistive technology you were using, if known
  • The best way for us to reach you with a response

We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days and to provide a substantive response within ten business days. If a fix will take longer, we will explain why and tell you what we will do in the meantime.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to a feedback message or accommodation request, you may file a formal complaint by emailing support@tateesq.com with the subject line “Accessibility Complaint.” Please include the original feedback message and a description of how you believe we have failed to address it. A senior member of our team will review the complaint and respond within fifteen business days.

You may also have the right to file a complaint with a government agency. In the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice handles complaints under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In the European Union and the United Kingdom, accessibility complaints are typically handled at the national level.

Updates to this statement

We will update this statement when we make significant changes to the Website’s accessibility, complete an accessibility audit, or update the standards we follow. The “Last Updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
