In plain English

Essential cookies to keep the site working. Google Analytics for page views. No advertising cookies.

  • Essential cookies keep the site working — your session, your security, your preferences. These cannot be disabled.
  • We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to understand how visitors use the site. You can opt out from the banner or your browser settings.
  • No Meta Pixel. No LinkedIn Insight. No TikTok Pixel. No ad-tech of any kind. We don't sell your browsing behavior to anyone.
  • We honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically.

What cookies are

In plain English

Small text files your browser stores so a site can remember things between page loads.

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. Cookies allow the website to remember information about your visit — for example, your preferences, whether you are logged in, and which pages you have viewed.

We also use other tracking technologies that work similarly to cookies, including:

  • Pixels (also called web beacons or tags) — tiny images embedded in pages or emails that record when you view content
  • Local storage and session storage — small data stores in your browser that work like cookies but persist differently
  • Server logs — records of requests made to our servers

In this policy, we use the word “cookies” to refer to all of these technologies unless context requires otherwise.

Types of cookies we use

In plain English

Essential cookies for site function. Analytics via Google Analytics 4. No advertising or marketing cookies.

Strictly necessary. These cookies are required for the Website to function. They enable basic features such as page navigation, secure areas, form submission, and remembering your cookie choices. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies, but you can block them in your browser settings — your Website experience may be limited if you do.

tateesq_csrfPrevents cross-site request forgery attacksSession

Functional. Functional cookies remember choices you make to give you a more personalized experience — for example, your preferred display settings. These cookies do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising.

Analytics. Analytics cookies help us understand how readers find, use, and navigate the Website — which articles people read, how long they stay, what they search for, and which links they click. We use this information to improve our content and the Website itself.

We use the following analytics services:

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — measures Website traffic and user behavior
  • Google Search Console (Google LLC) — measures search performance and indexing

Where required by law, we load analytics cookies only after you give consent through our cookie banner.

Marketing and advertising. We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not use Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel, Google Ads tags, or any other advertising or behavioral tracking technology. We do not participate in ad-tech real-time bidding. We do not sell your browsing behavior to anyone.

First-party and third-party cookies

Cookies set by tateesq.com directly are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other domains that load resources on our pages — for example, a video embed, a font service, or an analytics provider — are called third-party cookies. The third party is responsible for any data it collects through its cookies, and its use of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

The third parties we work with may include hosting and content-delivery providers, analytics providers (Google), video platforms (such as YouTube), email and newsletter platforms, scheduling and e-signature platforms, and similar service providers. For details on our service providers and how we share information with them, see our Privacy Policy.

How long cookies last

Cookies are either session cookies, which expire when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or are deleted. Persistent cookies on the Website typically last anywhere from a few hours to up to two years, depending on the cookie’s purpose. Where required by law, we limit cookie durations to what is reasonably necessary for the purpose disclosed.

You can delete cookies at any time using your browser’s settings. Doing so will reset your preferences, including any cookie consent choices.

Managing your preferences

Cookie banner. When you first visit the Website, we display a cookie banner that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choices at any time by clicking “Cookie Preferences” in the Website footer.

Browser controls. All major browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
  • Brave: Settings → Shields / Privacy and security

You can also choose to be notified before a cookie is set, block all third-party cookies, or block cookies entirely. Blocking some cookies may affect your experience on the Website.

Google Analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals because there is no consensus on how to interpret them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

Mobile device controls. On mobile devices, you can limit ad tracking through your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads

Children

The Website is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect personal information from children under 16. See our Privacy Policy for more.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page. If we make material changes — for example, adding a new analytics service that requires consent — we will provide additional notice and, where required, ask you to renew your consent.
